In the Beatitude, Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God, we can learn more about God, ourselves and our ultimate purpose in life. Jesus Christ calls us to the happiness that comes from a clean and undivided heart. Unfortunately, in this present time, several challenges have arisen that not only attack the dignity of the human person but also lead us to compromise our relationship with God and with others. Pornography has become a very serious epidemic, endangering the moral fiber of our society and the well-being of families. In this 6-part series, Peter Kleponis, licensed clinical therapist and nationally certified counselor from the Institute of Marital Healing, and Fr. Kevin Barrett, Chaplain of the Apostolate for Family Consecration, comment on Bishop Robert W. Finn’s pastoral letter on the dignity of the human person and the dangers of pornography. Fr. Kevin and Peter reflect on the dangers of pornography, how it is a very serious attack on human dignity and its damaging effects on adults, families and children. They discuss and expound on the strategies presented by Bishop Finn, which will help strengthen the commitment of those who struggle with this addiction to practice purity and chastity and will enable them to experience the freedom of the children of God. They also elaborate on the important role that parents and clergy play in preventing and combating this moral and social problem. This series can be used for personal and group study. Peter Kleponis holds a Masters Degree in Clinical-Counseling Psychology from La Salle University in Philadelphia. He has extensive experience working with couples and with adults and adolescents with depression, anxiety disorders and excessive anger. He has also evaluated candidates for the priesthood and the consecrated life and has participated in the Giving and Fulfilling marital conferences of the Institute of Marital Healing. Peter is a member of the Catholic Medical Association and lives in Philadelphia with his wife.
