Sr. John Vianney for younger children: born Alice Gorecki in 1920. Despite having been born with a crippled leg, Alice had a warm, generous heart to everyone around her, and offered her talents for singing, painting and teaching wherever they could be of service to others. Alice joined the Sisters of Notre Dame, taking the name Sr. John Vianney. She taught in the classroom for many years before being bedridden with a rare illness at age 50. For the last 20 years of her life, Sr. John continued her teaching ministry, welcoming many visitors to her bedside. Fr. Pablo Straub for all ages in Spanish: born in 1932 in Long Island and entered a Redemptorist seminary at an early age. After he was ordained in 1958, he was assigned to missionary work which took him to Puerto Rico for 20 years, then to the Philippines, the Andes Mountains of Peru and, finally, Mexico for more than 20 years. He was also active in the United States, giving missions and retreats frequently through his media outreach. A gifted speaker and comfortable in front of a camera, Fr. Straub was especially good at teaching youth. Father Straub also founded two religious congregations, which combine the contemplative and the missionary, one for men becoming priests and one for women religious. 7-DVD set, 20 program hours.
